Replacing the Core I/O Board Battery

To replace the core I/O board battery, follow these steps:

1.

Insert the replacement battery into the socket.

NOTE:

The positive terminal of the battery is designated by a + sign. Install the battery

with the + sign facing up.

2.

Replace the core I/O board. See

“Replacing the Core I/O Board” (page 237)

3.

Replace the top cover. See

“Replacing the Top Cover” (page 182)

4.

If rack installed, slide the server completely into the rack. See

“Inserting the Server into the

Rack” (page 180)

5.

Reconnect the power cables and power on the server. See

“Powering On the Server”

(page 94)

6.

Restore the iLO 2 MP configuration settings using the server console. For additional

Removing and Replacing the SAS Core I/O Card

The SAS core I/O card connects to the SAS disk backplane and controls internal data storage
operations for the server. There are four types of SAS core I/O cards supported on the server:

Half length generic SAS card (PCI-X)

Full length SAS card with RAID capability (PCI-X or PCIe)

Full length SAS card with RAID capability able to connect to external storage (PCIe)
