Supported configurations
Premium FastIron X Series chassis devices support Layer 2 switching and full Layer 3 multiprotocol
routing. Standard devices support Layer 2 and base Layer 3 switching. All standard FastIron X Series
chassis devices can be upgraded to full Layer 3 multi-protocol routing, at which time they are
considered to be premium devices.
For a list of supported modules and management modules refer to the “Management Modules” section.
All FastIron X Series chassis devices optionally support Power over Ethernet (PoE), providing the
means for integrating data, voice, and video over existing Ethernet cables.
