Configuring KeyGuard encryption

KeyGuard is a proprietary encryption method. KeyGuard is an enhancement to WEP encryption,
and was developed before the finalization of WPA-TKIP. This encryption implementation is based on
the IEEE Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) standard, 802.11i.

WPA2-CCMP (not KeyGuard) offers the highest level of security among the encryption methods
available with the Mobility 5181 Access Point.

1. Select Network Configuration -> Wireless -> Security from the Mobility 5181 Access Point

menu tree.

If security policies supporting KeyGuard exist, they appear within the Security Configuration
screen. These existing policies can be used as is, or their properties edited by clicking the Edit
button. To configure a new security policy supporting KeyGuard, continue to step 2.

2. Click the Create button to configure a new policy supporting KeyGuard.

Pass Key

Specify a 4 to 32 character pass key and click the Generate
button. The pass key can be any alphanumeric string. The Mobility
5181 Access Point, other proprietary routers and Brocade Clients
use the algorithm to convert an ASCII string to the same
hexadecimal number. Clients without Brocade adapters need to
use WEP keys manually configured as hexadecimal numbers.

Keys #1-4

Use the Key #1-4 areas to specify key numbers. The key can be
either a hexadecimal or ASCII depending on which option is
selected from the drop-down menu. For WEP 64 (40-bit key), the
keys are 10 hexadecimal characters in length or 5 ASCII
characters. For WEP 128 (104-bit key), the keys are 26
hexadecimal characters in length or 13 ASCII characters. Select
one of these keys for activation by clicking its radio button.
