4. Click the port that you want to configure. A selected port turns white.

You can configure more than one port at a time.

5. Click the Port Role button to display the popup window in Figure 86.

6. Select the new role for the port. A port can have only one port role at a

time. The port role are described in this table.

7. Click Apply.

The new role is immediately implemented on the port.

8. To save your changes in the master configuration file, click Save

Config in the Configuration menu.

To enable or disable port-based access control, go to “Enabling or
Disabling 802.1x Port-based Network Access Control” on page 226.
To configure authenticator port settings, go to “Configuring the
Authenticator Port Parameters” on page 227. T
o configure supplicant
port settings, go to “Configuring the Supplicant Port Parameters” on
page 234.

Port Role

Definition

None

The port does not participate in 802.1x
port-based access control. This is the
default setting.

Authenticator

The port functions as an authenticator.
This is the appropriate setting if the port is
connected to a supplicant.

Supplicant

The port functions as an supplicant. This
is the appropriate setting if the port is
connected to an authenticator.
