Visio drawings

Microsoft Visio is the basis for elements of the NetVue UI, including Network Views, Circuit Views and
Device Views.

10.6.1.1

Adapting Microsoft Visio drawings for use in NetVue

NOTE: For general information on how to work with Microsoft Visio, see Microsoft
Visio Help.

To use a Microsoft Visio drawing in NetVue, make sure to save it in the XML format known as VDX. Every
page in a multi-page VDX file is rendered as a tab in Visual Overview.

Use special shape data to link the shapes in the drawing to NetVue items and to external files. You can
insert a variety of image formats (png, jpg, bmp, and emf) into Visio drawings.

To import Microsoft Visio files into NetVue:

1. In Microsoft Visio, create the drawing, add the necessary shape data to the shapes, and save the file

in VDX format.

2. In NetVue, upload the VDX file.
3. Edit the drawing in Visio, if you need to change both shapes and shape data.

or
Edit the drawing in the NetVue client interface (NetVue Cube or System Display), if you only need to
change shape data.

10.6.1.2

NetVue Microsoft Visio templates

Comtech EF Data supplies several default drawings in Microsoft Visio format. The NetVue server already
contains these Visio drawings.

You can create your own default drawings with Visio. Create new drawings, or copy the drawings
supplied by Comtech EF Data and change the copies to suit your needs.
