1.3.3

Customization (Engineering Support Center)

Comtech EF Data Engineering Support Center (ESC) can assist customers with customized Visio-based
views in NetVue. Please contact your sales representative with specific requirements for a quote.

1.4

Protocols

NetVue Servers communicate with any device from any vendor using protocols. Protocols are also known
as drivers.

1.4.1

XML-based protocol descriptions

Each NetVue protocol is a comprehensive, XML-based description of a third-party protocol.

In a NetVue protocol, you specify all of this information:

Conditional device polling mechanisms

Layout of the user interfaces, showing all relevant device data in real time

Element Display

Element Cards (NetVue Cube)

Default port settings, Alarm thresholds, Parameter labels, etc.

All the information necessary for a NetVue Server to build the MIB for device communication through
SNMP

1.4.2

Protocol versions

You can install multiple versions of the same NetVue protocol in parallel on a NetVue system. In addition,
you can associate a default protocol with all the operational equipment in NetVue. These features make it
easier to roll out a new protocol version.

1.5

Licensing

NetVue server comes with a license that limits the number of devices monitored and/or configured in
NetVue. CEFD provides license management.

1.6

Trend graphs

Use Trend graphs to plot recorded data for a graphical review. Select and plot data that the NetVue
Server records.
