A
action
An operation, such as a diagnostic test, that can be performed on a selected
the Actions dialog box to display and perform actions.
Examples:
Load (action on a selected processor)
Up (action on a selected disk)
AC transfer switch
A component of a
NonStop™ Cluster Switch (model 6770)
AC power sources and the ability to switch between the two sources if one fails. The AC
transfer switch draws power from its primary power source as long as it is available. If
the primary source fails, the AC transfer switch is switched to draw power from the
secondary power source.
address
A number, label, or name that indicates the virtual or physical location of information as
stored in the computer’s memory. An address can refer to a storage location, a terminal, a
peripheral device, a cursor location, or any other physical item in a computer system.
alarm
A message, similar to an event message, that reports detected faults or abnormal
conditions on the server. Each alarm contains information that describes the detected
problem and repair information. Depending on their severity and type, alarms might
trigger a problem incident report.
An alarm condition is indicated visually in the tree pane by a colored icon displayed next
to the component causing the alarm.
