from the NID to one or more management stations.

Figure 4-26 Network Performance Traps screen

1. To configure traps, on the Network Performance screen, type 4 and press Enter. The

Network Performance Traps screen (Figure 4-26) opens.

2. To configure Master Trap Control, type 1 and press Enter. Options are: Disabled, Log

Only, Send Only, Both Log And Send.

Master Trap Control controls the generation of all traps. When enabled the traps are sent
to management station(s) based upon their individual setting. When disabled no traps are
sent regardless of their individual setting

The setting on this control overrides the settings on the other traps. For example, if the
User Port Link Traps is set to Both Log And Send but you set the Master Trap Control to
Send Only, the User Port Link Traps will only Send Only.

3. To configure Test Distribution Connection State Traps, type 2 and press Enter. This

trap controls generation of the SNMP trap cpNPATrapConnStateChange. Options are
Enabled and Disabled. Additional MIB objects included with the trap are:

cpNPATestDistConnIPAddress – identifies the IP of the management platform.

cpNPATestDistConnState – identifies the administrative state of the connection.

cpNPATestDistConnConnectionState – identifies the operational status of the connection.

4. To configure the Test Results Unsent Trap, type 3 and press Enter. This trap controls

the generation of SNMP trap cpNPATrapUnsentResults.

This trap is generated whenever the buffer space (5000 records) reaches 25%, 50%,
75% or 100% of its capacity in both directions and also 0% while recovering. After
reaching 100% full the trap is sent every 25% or after 1250 records. Additional MIB
objects included with the trap are:
