Outline

1.1

Outline

With the DM Link communication, devices such as PLCs, PCs, and board computers (hereafter referred to as external device) read
from and write to dedicated DM Link memory (hereafter referred to as data memory) in the MICRO/I or Touch. When one external
device is communicating with one MICRO/I or Touch using this communication method it is called DM Link 1:1 communication,
and when one external device is communicating with multiple MICRO/I or Touch units, it is called DM Link 1:N communication.
Both methods use a special protocol developed by IDEC that does not require the external device to run a communications program.

1.2

DM Link Communication

Using DM Link communication the external device can read from and write to the MICRO/I or Touch data memory. Conversely, of
course, the MICRO/I or Touch can display and modify the contents of its data memory.

1.2.1

Reading Data from the External Device

By operating operate data input parts placed in the MICRO/I or Touch screen it is possible to modify the contents of the data memory
and then read this memory using the external device.

1.2.2

Writing Data to the External Device

The external device can write to the MICRO/I or Touch data memory and thereby modify the content of display parts in the
MICRO/I or Touch screen.

1.2.3

Event Output from the MICRO/I or Touch

With DM Link 1:1 communication the MICRO/I or Touch can directly transmit to the external device. This is called Event Output.
