There are some formats that do not support the ability to efficiently read a random
portion of the image. As a result, these images can take significantly longer to load, and
may require more memory.
Note: QuickTime files do not support the creation of tmp files.
To calculate the maximum disk space needed to accomodate tmp files for each FileIn
node during I/O, use the following formula:
tmp file = width * height * number of channels * bytes
where bytes = 1 for 8 bit, 2 for 10 or 16 bits, 4 for float.
