Parameter setting

SSI electronic module

Sliding direction

Information for the orientation of encoder data. Generally, the SSI encoder

uses "MSB first".

Information on the sliding direction is provided on the encoder data sheet.

Click the input field to open the drop down menu.

• LSB first (lower-order bit is transmitted first)

• MSB first (most significant bit is transmitted first)

Edge clock signal

Selection of the signal edge for clock inputs 4 and 8 at the SSI module.

Click the input field to open the drop down menu.

• Falling edge (1-0 edge)

• Rising edge (0-1 edge)

Coding

Click the input field to open the drop down menu.

• Standard code

–The provided encoder value remains unchanged.

• Gray code

–The gray-coded value provided by the encoder is converted into a binary

value. The Gray code is another way of displaying the binary code. In the

Gray code, two adjacent Gray numbers differ by exactly one bit.

Therefore, transmission errors can easily be detected since adjacent

characters are allowed to differ by only one position.

SSI function

After the module has been enabled, it starts clocking and evaluating the

encoder. Received data are saved to the input process image.

Click the input field to open the drop down menu.

Note!

A description of the indexes for the paramter setting is provided in the I/O

system 1000 system manual.
