Connecting ports of the applications

For the exchange of the process data objects (PDO) you must connect the corresponding

ports of the applications.

How to connect two ports:

1. Select the Machine application element in the Project view.
2. Click the Connections tab.

3. Arrange the logic modules of the applications clearly in the Connections tab.
4. Transmit the mouse pointer to the port connection to be connected first.

• The connector is activated.

5. Transmit the mouse pointer to the second port connection to connect both ports.

• The ports match if a green connector is displayed.
• The ports do not match if a red connector is displayed.

Note!

• The ports in the I/O system 1000 are sorted in bytes. If you connect these

ports with ports sorted in words, a warning message appears.
– "Source port and target port differ from each other. Data types and/or

sequence of the contained application variables do not match. Do you

want to connect the ports all the same?""

• If you want to connect the ports, press Yes.
