Automatic Backup Methods

There are two methods available to perform an automatic backup requiring no operator
intervention. One method involves using the Windows Task Scheduler and invoking the
Backup Utility via a command line interface. The other method utilizes the scheduled
tasks that are available while the Weigh screen is active.

Command Line Interface

The Backup Utility can be invoked in unattended mode (without a user interface) using a
command line interface. The command line syntax follows:

burst32 -O:A -INI:Transact.ini -DFB:<file path>

-O:A

Invokes Backup in unattended mode

-INI:Transact.ini

Specifies the application ini file in the Windows folder

-DFB:<file path>

Backup all dynamic files to a DFB file specified by the
file path. This argument is optional and if not specified
the program will use the default backup name and path
specified in Backup Options.

Note: It might be preferable to use the default name and path when
automatically scheduling a backup. The backup utility can be configured to
generate a unique name each time it is invoked.

This command line can then be scheduled using Windows Task Scheduler to perform an
automatic backup requiring no operator intervention.

Weigh Screen Scheduled Task

While the Weigh screen is active there are a number of tasks that can be executed at
various times. Among these is a database copy. A copy of the database is placed in the
default backup folder and is named bummddyy.mdb where mmddyy is the current month,
day and year. To setup this task follow these steps from the Weigh screen:

1. Click the Options button on the Weigh screen.

2. Click the Tasks radio button on the Weigh Options screen.

3. From the Task drop down list, select Copy Database.

4. A database copy can be scheduled at preset intervals, after every ticket or once

per day by selecting the appropriate entry from Frequency drop down list.

5. For further information on how to schedule a database copy see the Weigh
