FAQ

Copying the Transact Folder and Initialization File

AWS recommends that a copy of the current Transact directory be created prior to
installing a software update. The following instructions assume Transact has been
installed on the local hard drive of your computer, C:\.

1. Quit Transact.

2. Right click the Start button, select Explore from the menu.

3. Click the plus (+) to the left of Program Files folder then Click the plus (+) to

the left of AWS folder until the Transact folder is visible.

4. Use the mouse to point to this folder and RIGHT click. Select COPY from the

drop-down list that appears.

5. On the left side of the split window, scroll up until the (AWS) folder is visible.

6. Use the mouse to point to (AWS) folder and RIGHT click. Select PASTE from

the drop-down list that appears.

7. Windows will create a new folder called COPY OF Transact containing a copy

all of the files from the Transact folder.

8. When the Transact folder has been copied, select the Windows (or WINNT

when running Windows NT or 2000) folder from the left side of the split
window.

9. Scroll through the right side until you find Transact.INI, click on the file once to

select.

10. Select Edit | Copy then Edit | Paste from the Exploring tool bar.

11 Scroll to the end of the file list on the right side. Copy of Transact.ini will be

listed at the bottom.

NOTE: Copies of the Transact folder and initialization file can be placed in another
location or media device (i.e. zip disk, read/write CD-ROM, flash disk, etc.) by selecting
a destination other than local drive C.

To decrease the length of time it takes to copy the Transact folder, delete any old backup
files found in the C:\Program Files\AWS\Transact structure, including any sub-folders.
By default, backup files created using the Transact backup tool will be in the format
BUmmddyy.mdb. or BUmmddyy.DFB.
