Copying Transact folder and Initialization File to an External 

Device 

Use these instructions to copy the Transact folder and initialization file to an external
device such as: zip disk, read/write CD-ROM, flash disk, etc.

1. Quit Transact.

2. Right click the Start button, select Explore from the menu.

3.

Click the plus (+) to the left of Program Files folder then Click the plus (+) to
the left of AWS folder until the Transact folder is visible.

4.

Use the mouse to point to this folder and RIGHT click. Select COPY from the
drop-down list that appears.

5.

Scroll through the left side of the split window until the external device is
visible.

6.

Use the mouse to point to the device and RIGHT click. Select PASTE from the
drop-down list that appears.

7.

Windows will create a Transact folder and copy all of the files from the
C:\Program Files\AWS\Transact folder to the Transact folder on the external
device.

8.

When the Transact folder has been copied, select the Windows (or WINNT
when running Windows NT or 2000) folder from the left side of the split
window.

9. Scroll through the right side until you find the Transact.INI file.

10.

Use the mouse to point to this file and RIGHT click. Select COPY from the
drop-down list that appears.

11. Scroll through the left side of the split window until the external device is visible

Use the mouse to point to the device and RIGHT click. Select PASTE from the
drop-down list that appears.

NOTE: To decrease the length of time it takes to copy the Transact folder, delete any old
backup files found in the C:\Program Files\AWS\Transact structure, including any sub-
folders. By default, backup files created using the Transact backup tool will be in the
format BUmmddyy.mdb (Transact versions 4.0.45 and older) or BUmmddyy.DFB
(Transact versions 4.0.46 and newer).
