DEPTH SENSORS

The depth sensors are factory installed options which
are located inside the sonde body. There is a small
plastic fitting which protects the threads of the depth
probe port. Before each sonde deployment, inspect
this plastic fitting and clear any obstruction which may
have clogged it. In the event that the plastic hose
fitting is damaged or missing, a replacement can be
found in the 6040 Maintenance Kit.

NOTE: Never try to remove an obstruction to the
plastic fitting while it is installed in the sonde probe
plate. To do so would risk damage to the depth sensor.

If the 6000

UPG

you are using does not contain the depth

or level option, the depth port will be fitted with a
small brass plug.

6083 NITRATE AND 6084 AMMONIUM PROBES

Cleaning is required whenever deposits or
contaminants appear on the ion selective
membranes located on the tips of these probes.
Following the diagram above for pH and ORP
sensors, remove the probe from the sonde.
Next, remove the probe from its protective
guard. Use clean water and a moist piece of
lens cleaning tissue to gently wipe the sensor
membranes until no more contaminates are
removed. After cleaning is complete, dry the
sonde port and probe connector with
compressed air and apply a very thin coat of
O-ring lubricant to all O-rings before re-installation.

NOTE: The ion selective membranes are fragile. Be certain to: (1) Use only moist, high quality lens
cleaning tissue for the cleaning procedure (not paper towels or other coarse materials); and (2)
Stroke the probe face very gently with the tissue during the procedure. Not adhering to either of
these instructions can seriously damage the sensors.
