Initiate a measurement.

ttt - Maximum time in seconds the 6000

UPG

will take to complete the measurement.

n - Number of data that will be available when the measurement is completed. This number is the
same as the number of output parameters set in the Report-setup menus (see Section 4.6). Date and
time are also counted. If the number of parameter set is greater than 9, it is truncated to 9.

After finishing the measurement, the 6000

UPG

will send a service request "a[CR][LF]" to the bus

master. The bus master can then retrieve the measurement result by "D0" to "D9" commands (see
below). If the 6000

UPG

does not send a service request within the specified maximum time, the

measurement was canceled. The bus master can then send a "V" command (see below) to obtain
the specific error code or restart with another "M" command.

Initiate a verifying sequence.

ttt - The time the 6000

will take to execute the verifying sequence. This is always 004 seconds.

n - Number of data from the verifying sequence. This is always 5. The 5 data that will be available
are date, time, battery voltage, free flash disk space in KB, and the last system error code (in this
order).

After finishing the verifying sequence, the 6000

UPG

will send a service request "a[CR][LF]" to the

bus master. The bus master can then retrieve all verifying data with a single "D0" command (see
below).

Send identification.

: allccccccccmmmmmmvvvxxx...xxx[CR][LF]

l - 2 character SDI-12 level number. For version 1.00 of the EMS6000 software, this field is "10".

c - 8 character manufacturer identification. This field always contains "YSIIWQSG" (YSI Inc.,
Water Quality Systems Group).
