Background Illumination

The buttons on the front panel can be set to provide amber background illumination at
all times or the background illumination can be turned off. To toggle the background
illumination on or off, press and hold the Input 1 and Input 2 buttons simultaneously for
approximately 2 seconds (see figure 54).

Selecting the Rear Panel Remote Port Protocol and Baud Rate

The rear panel Remote port on each switcher model can operate at the 9600, 19200, 38400,
and 115200 baud rate and can support either RS-232 or RS-422 serial communication
protocol. The settings of these variables can be viewed and changed from the front panel.
View and configure the serial communications settings as follows:

NOTE: The RS-232/RS-422 port settings are protected when front panel Lock mode 2 is

selected. You can view the settings in Lock mode 2 but you cannot adjust them from
the front panel. See

page 75.

Select Serial Port Selection and Configuration mode: Simultaneously press and
hold all Control buttons (Enter, Preset, View, and Esc).

The flashing Control button indicates the baud rate as follows:
Enter — 9600

Preset — 19200

View — 38400

Esc — 115200

The flashing I/O button indicates the protocol as follows:
RGBHV or Video — RS-232

Audio — RS-422/RS-485

In this example, the port is set to RS-232 at 9600 baud.

Press and hold the buttons.

All Control buttons light with
one flashing.

Both I/O buttons light
with one flashing.

actions are ignored and the Enter, Video, and Audio buttons flash (see
