To configure video expiration, select a camera name in the list on the left and click Add>>. (You can select multiple
cameras by pressing the Ctrl or Shift buttons.) Then select the camera name in the list on the right. You can configure two
types of expiration:

To delete video after a certain amount of time, select At Most from the Type drop-down list and use the
arrows to select the maximum number of days the video should be stored.

NOTES: If an At Most setting is configured for a camera, the camera cannot be selected for archiving. Also,
bookmarked video from the camera is not deleted even if the video is older than the At Most setting.

To save video for a minimum amount of time, select At Least from the Type drop-down list and use the
arrows to select the minimum number of days the video should be stored.

Repeat for each camera that requires expiration rules. To remove expiration rules, select one or more camera names in
the list on the right and click <<Remove. Click Apply when finished.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON EXPIRATION CONFIGURATION

The system normally retains recorded video from all cameras for as long as possible, deleting the oldest video only when
required to create room for newly recorded video. Thus, it is recommended that you use the Expiration Configuration
feature only when necessary
, such as if video must be deleted after a specific maximum time period as required by law.

If you configure an At Least expiration rule for a specific camera, the system will attempt to save video from that camera
for that period of time. If necessary, the system will reduce the amount of time that data from other cameras is saved on
the server. The system could eventually stop recording video from all cameras to avoid violating the expiration
configuration rule.

For example, consider a server that has filled all available video storage for 20 cameras, and the Oldest Content is ten
days. If you configure a storage expiration rule for Camera 1 to save at least 30 days of video, the system will delete video
from other cameras as new video is recorded, so that data from Camera 1 can be saved for a longer period of time. In this
case, the oldest content for the other 19 cameras will be less than ten days. In an extreme case, the system could reduce
the oldest content on the other 19 cameras to zero days, and then stop recording new video from Camera 1, to avoid
deleting any video protected by the At Least expiration rule.
