When you specify a mirror in Hold, Holding, or Hold(Failure) status, only the Universal
Replicator for Mainframe pair of the specified mirror is deleted.

When you specify a mirror that is not in Hold, Holding, or Hold(Failure) status, the Universal
Replicator for Mainframe pairs of both mirrors (including the mirror that you did not specify)
are deleted.

To delete data volumes from a mirror, follow the procedure below. Not only the primary storage
system administrator but also the secondary storage system administrator can perform this operation.

1.

Ensure that the Remote Web Console main window is in Modify mode.

2.

Ensure that the Journal Operation window is displayed.

3.

Do either of the following:

In the tree, select a master journal group or a restore journal group from below Registered.

In the tree, select Journal Groups or Registered and then select a master journal group
or a restore journal group from the list to the right.

The list displays a list of mirrors. One row in the list represents one mirror.

4.

Locate mirrors that are not in Initial status.

5.

From the mirrors, select and right-click the mirror(s) from which you want to delete data volumes.

6.

From the pop-up menu, select JNL Groups and Delete Pair.

7.

See the Preview list to check the settings that you have made.

To cancel a setting, select and right-click the setting and then select Cancel.

If necessary, you can repeat steps

to specify other mirrors.

8.

Click Apply to delete data volumes from the mirror(s).

NOTE:

If an error occurs, the right-most column of the Preview list displays the error code. To

view detailed information about the error, right-click the error code and then select Error Detail.
An error message appears and gives you detailed information about the error.

Assigning Remote Command Devices to Mirrors

Assigning a remote command device to a mirror enables you to know whether the delta resync
operation can be performed or not. By using Assign Remote Command Device window, you can
assign the remote command device to the mirror of the journal group in the 3DC multi-target
configuration. When the mirror status is Active, Halt, Stop, Hold, Holding, or Holding(failure), the
remote command device can be assigned to the mirror.

To assign a mirror to a remote command device, use the following procedure (this operation can
be executed per journal group):
1.

Ensure that the Remote Web Console main window is in Modify mode. For detailed information
about how to do this, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User's Guide.

2.

Ensure that the Journal Operation window is open (see

“Journal Operation Window”

(page 108)

).

3.

In the tree below the Registered icon, select a master journal group or a restore journal group.

4.

From the mirrors, right-click the mirror(s) you want to assign the remote command device to.

5.

Select JNL Group, Assign R-Cmd. Dev in the pop up menu. The Assign Remote Command
Device dialog box appears.

6.

Specify the parameters to assign the remote command device in the Assign Remote Command
Device window.

7.

Click Set and close the Assign Remote Command Device window.
