Figure 35 Configuration of the Delta Resync Operation to Support Remote Command Devices

To create the above configuration, perform following operations:
1.

Configure paths between external ports and target ports. For detail about the external ports,
see the HP XP24000/XP20000 External Storage Software User's Guide. For instruction on
setting paths, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 LUN Manager User's Guide.

2.

Create command devices in all sites. For instruction on setting command devices, see the HP
XP24000/XP20000 LUN Manager User's Guide
.

3.

Map the command devices in all sites as remote command devices from the paired sites. For
instruction on mapping remote command devices, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 External
Storage Software User's Guide
.

4.

Assign mirrors to remote command devices in all sites so that you can use remote command
devices via remote command devices. For details on assigning mirrors to remote command
devices, see Assigning Mirrors to.

If the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous pair, the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair, and
the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for delta resync operation are deleted, the assigned
remote command devices to mirrors are automatically released.

If the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous pair, the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair, and
the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for delta resync operation are all deleted when the
remote command device cannot be communicated with because of a failure or a disaster, the
assigned remote command devices to mirrors cannot be released automatically. If you want to
release the assigned remote command devices after deleting the pair, restore the communication
with the remote command device, and then release the assigned remote command devices. For
details on releasing the assigned remote command devices, see

“Releasing Assigned Remote

Command Device” (page 176)

.

Changing to 3DC Multi-target Configuration after Recovering from Primary Site Failures

If you follow the operation procedure in

“Recovering from Failures in the Primary Site and the

TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous Secondary Site” (page 95)

and then the system does not

change to a 3DC cascading configuration, you can change the system into a 3DC multi-target
configuration after removing failures from the primary site and other locations. The resulting 3DC
multi-target system uses the former TrueCopy for Mainframe secondary volume as a primary volume.
