The At-Time Split function has the following restrictions when Universal Replicator for Mainframe
and ShadowImage for Mainframe are used in conjunction:

The At-Time Split function can be executed by Business Continuity Manager, but cannot be
executed by Remote Web Console.

You can execute split operations on ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs that belong to
ShadowImage for Mainframe consistency groups.

You can apply one split operation to one ShadowImage for Mainframe consistency group.

If you configure the split operation, you can select one of two split types (that is, Quick Split
and Steady Split) of the ShadowImage for Mainframe pair. For detail about split types, see
the Hitachi ShadowImage™ for Mainframe User's Guide: HP XP24000 Disk Array, HP
XP20000 Disk Array
.

You can apply up to three split operations to one journal group (equivalent to three
ShadowImage for Mainframe consistency groups).

One ShadowImage for Mainframe S-VOL can be paired with up to three ShadowImage for
Mainframe T-VOLs. This enables you to create a maximum of three generations of backup
data.

The procedure to use the At-Time Split function when you combine Universal Replicator for Mainframe
with ShadowImage for Mainframe is as follows. The following steps enable you to make backup
copy at a specified time without suspending Universal Replicator for Mainframe pairs:

1.

Specify the split time by using Business Continuity Manager.

2.

Among the Universal Replicator for Mainframe restore journals, the journal data created before
the split time is restored to the Universal Replicator for Mainframe S-VOLs (ShadowImage for
Mainframe S-VOLs).

3.

When Universal Replicator for Mainframe detects the journal data from the restore journal
which has a time stamp later than the split time, restore operations will be suspended. After
