The storage system must have a Universal Replicator for Mainframe master journal volume.

If you use Business Continuity Manager, you need to make settings on the storage system.
See the HP Business Continuity Manager Software User's Guide for information about
settings required for volume operations in remote sites.

If you want to use the delta resync function to support remote command devices, a remote
command device must be created on the Universal Replicator for Mainframe primary site
and the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous secondary site. For detail about the creating
of a remote command device, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 External Storage Software
User's Guide
.

Setup Procedure

This section explains the procedure for setting up a 3DC multi-target configuration using TrueCopy
for Mainframe Synchronous and Universal Replicator for Mainframe.

To set up a 3DC multi-target configuration:

1.

Install TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous and Universal Replicator for Mainframe. Configure
ports and journal groups; journal groups must be configured for storage systems in the three
sites.

2.

In the primary site, create a TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous pair.

3.

Wait until the status of the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous pair becomes Duplex.

4.

In the primary site, create a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair.

When creating a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair, be sure to select a value from 1 to
3 as the mirror ID.

5.

Wait until the status of the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair becomes Duplex.

To create a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for the delta resync operation, go to the
next step.

6.

Specify the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous R-VOL in the TrueCopy for Mainframe
Synchronous secondary site as the primary data volume, and specify the secondary data
volume in the Universal Replicator for Mainframe secondary site as the secondary data volume
to create the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for the delta resync operation.

Select any mirror ID from 1 to 3 except the one used in step 4.

If you want to use the delta resync function to support remote command devices, go to the
next step.

7.

Assign the remote command device to the mirror ID of the Universal Replicator for Mainframe
pair on the URz primary site. Additionally, assign the remote command device to mirror ID
00.

8.

Assign the remote command device to the mirror ID of the Universal Replicator for Mainframe
pair for the delta resync operation on the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous secondary
site. Additionally, assign the remote command device to mirror ID 00.

9.

Assign the remote command device to the mirror ID of the URz pair on the Universal Replicator
for Mainframe secondary site. Additionally, assign the remote command device to the mirror
ID of the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for the delta resync operation.

For more information, see

“Configuring Delta Resync Operation Environment to Support Remote

Command Devices” (page 88)

.

If you release the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous pair that is created in step 2, the Universal
Replicator for Mainframe pair created in step 6 is released as well. In addition, if you release the
Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair created in step 4, the secondary data volume of the
Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair created in step 6 is deleted. In this case, you can only
perform the deleting operation on the remaining primary data volume.
