As shown in
, a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair created with the delta
resync operation is defined as a pair but no copy operation is performed (Hold status). The copy
operation is performed when the failure occurs and the delta resync operation is performed. There
are several requirements to create a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for the delta resync
operation, including the need to specify the unused mirror ID. For detailed information about the
requirements of creating a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for the delta resync operation,
see
“Requirements for Creating Universal Replicator for Mainframe Pair for the Delta Resync
For more information about the delta resync operation that is performed when a failure occurs in
a configuration shown in
, see the next section. The Universal Replicator for
Mainframe pair needs to be in Hold status if you want to perform the delta resync operation when
a failure occurs. However, the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair status may be changed to
Hlde; for example, when the cache memory or shared memory error occurs in the TrueCopy for
Mainframe Synchronous secondary site or when the journal cannot be obtained in the TrueCopy
for Mainframe Synchronous secondary site because of the failure in the master journal volume or
occurrence of the pinned track. If the status of the Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair for the
delta resync operation changes to Hlde, follow the steps in
“Restoring a Pair of Data Volumes”
and change the pair status to Hold again.
Switching the Master Journal Group of Universal Replicator for Mainframe
If a failure occurs on the primary site as depicted in
, the Universal Replicator
for Mainframe pair for the delta resync operation can use the journal group in the TrueCopy for
Mainframe Synchronous secondary site as the master journal group. Follow these steps to switch
the master journal group:
1.
Change TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous secondary site to the primary site by using
Business Continuity Manager.
2.
Perform the delta resync operation on the primary data volume of the Universal Replicator for
Mainframe pair in Hold status.
