Hardware Configuration

A computer system in a 3DC multi-target configuration requires the following three sites:

Primary site for both TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous and Universal Replicator for
Mainframe

Secondary site for TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous

Secondary site for Universal Replicator for Mainframe

Each of these sites requires one storage system and Remote Web Console computers. It is
recommended that Business Continuity Manager should be installed in host computers in each of
these sites.

The following explains the hardware configuration for XP storage systems in these sites.

XP storage system in the primary site:

The storage system must have TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous installed.

The storage system must have Universal Replicator for Mainframe installed.

The storage system must have a volume used as a TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous
primary volume and a Universal Replicator for Mainframe primary data volume.

The storage system must have a Universal Replicator for Mainframe master journal volume.

If you use Business Continuity Manager, you need to make settings on the storage system.
See the HP Business Continuity Manager Software User's Guide for information about
settings required for volume operations in remote sites.

If you want to use the delta resync function to support remote command devices, a remote
command device must be created on the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous secondary
site and the Universal Replicator for Mainframe secondary site. For detail about the
creating of a remote command device, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 External Storage
Software User's Guide
.

The storage system must have Universal Replicator for Mainframe installed.

The storage system must have a TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous secondary volume.

The storage system must have a Universal Replicator for Mainframe master journal volume.

NOTE:

This volume will be used for creating a Universal Replicator for Mainframe pair

when disaster recovery is performed at the primary site or when you create a Universal
Replicator for Mainframe pair for delta resync operation.

If you use Business Continuity Manager, you need to make settings on the storage system.
See the HP Business Continuity Manager Software User's Guide for information about
settings required for volume operations in remote sites.

If you want to use the delta resync function to support remote command devices, a remote
command device must be created on the TrueCopy for Mainframe Synchronous primary
site and the Universal Replicator for Mainframe secondary site. For detail about the
