Use the Preview list to check the parameters have been made.

To modify a setting, right-click the setting and select Modify.

To cancel a setting, right-click the setting and click Delete.

Click Apply to assign the mirror to the remote command device.

Use the list in the Journal Operation window to determine if the mirror is assigned to the remote
command device. If the remote command device is assigned, the LDEV number is displayed
in the remote command device column.

If an error occurs, an error code appears in the last column of the Preview list. To view detailed
about the error, right-click the error code and select Error Detail.

Using the Assign Remote Command Device dialog box, you can assign two remote command
devices to two mirrors in one operation. The Assign Remote Command Device dialog box shows
the following settings:

Mirror ID: Selects mirror ID. To assign the remote command device to the mirror of TrueCopy
for Mainframe synchronous pair in the 3DC multi-target configuration, specify 00 as the mirror
ID. To assign the remote command device to only one mirror ID, select Not set in the mirror
2. However, the same mirror ID cannot be specified to the mirror 1 and mirror 2 in the dialog
box.

Remote Command Device: Selects remote command devices to be assigned to the mirrors. If
a remote command device is not used, select Not use.

Set: Applies the settings in the window to the Journal Operation window (see

“Journal

Operation Window” (page 108)

).

Cancel: Cancels the settings and closes the dialog box.

Releasing Assigned Remote Command Device

To release a remote command device assigned to a mirror, use the following procedure (this
operation can be executed per mirror):

1.

Ensure that the Remote Web Console main window is in Modify mode. For detailed information
about how to do this, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User's Guide.

2.

Ensure that the Journal Operation window is open (see

“Journal Operation Window”

(page 108)

).

3.

In the tree below the Registered icon, select a master journal group or a restore journal group.

4.

From the mirrors, right-click the mirror you want to release the assigned remote command
device.

5.

Select JNL Group, Release R-Cmd. Dev in the pop up menu.
