Port loop detection support in MCT

20

The <mins> variable specifies the configurable syslog interval in minutes. The configurable range
is from 10 through 1440 minutes. The default value for syslog interval is 10.

Setting the disable duration

You can use the loop-detection disable-duration command to specify the duration for which the
port must be disabled after a loop is detected. The port is automatically enabled after the specified
duration.

To set the disable duration to 24 hours, enter the following command.

BigIron RX(config)# loop-detection disable-duration 1440

Syntax: [no] loop-detection disable-duration <num>

The <num> variable specifies the time interval for which the port must be disabled in units of one
minute. The configurable range is from 0 through 1440 minutes. If you specify 0, then the port is
permanently disabled.

Setting the loop detection interval

You can use the loop-detection-interval command to define the interval for sending the PLD
packets.

To set the interval for sending the PLD packets to 5 seconds, enter the following command.

BigIron RX(config)# loop-detection-interval 50

Syntax: [no] loop-detection-interval <num>

The <num> variable specifies the time interval to send packets in units of 100 milliseconds. The
configurable range is from 1 through 100 (100 ms to 10 seconds). The default value is 10 (1
second).

Displaying port loop detection information

To display loop detection information for a specific port or VLAN, enter the following command.

BigIron RX# show loop-detection

loop detection packets interval: 10 (unit 100 msec)

loop detection disable duration: 1 (In minutes, 0 means permanently disabled)

Ports mode loop detection

=========================

port-num vlan-id port-shutdown shutdown-mode disable-count

7/6 -- enabled recv-port 0

Ports disabled by loop detection

================================

port age(minutes) disable cause

Syntax: show loop-detection ethernet <port-num> | vlan <vlan-id>

The ethernet <port-num> parameter displays loop detection information for a specific Ethernet
port.

The vlan <vlan-id> parameter displays loop detection information for a specific VLAN.

Table 108

describes the output parameters of the show loop-detection command.
