2.

Add the journal group to an EXCTG.

The procedure for adding a journal group to an EXCTG is similar to that for adding a
consistency group to a copy group container.

3.

Execute the YKQUERY command.

Because the journal group you added has not been registered in the EXCTG yet, the YKZ296E
message indicating that the journal group has not been registered in the EXCTG is output.

4.

Execute the YKMAKE command with SELECT(COND) specified.

The added journal group is registered in the EXCTG of the storage system.

Checking the Registration Status of EXCTG (4x4 Configuration)

To check the registration status of EXCTG in a storage system:
1.

After executing the YKMAKE command, check that the status is DUPLEX by executing the
YKEWAIT GOTO(DUPLEX)

command. Alternatively, check that the status is DUPLEX by

executing the YKQUERY command.

For the YKEWAIT and YKQUERY commands, even if the storage system status is DUPLEX, the
copy pair status will read PENDING if the EXCTG has not yet been registered or is still being
registered.

For the YKQRYDEV command, the storage system status is displayed as is. If the EXCTG has
not yet been registered or is still being registered, the copy pair status might be different
between the YKEWAIT and YKQUERY commands. Also, once the EXCTG registration ends,
even if the storage system status as a Cnt Ac-J Z copy pair is DUPLEX, when the consistency
is not guaranteed as a 4x4 configuration Cnt Ac-J Z, the status will be changed to PENDING
on the storage system side.

2.

If an error occurs during the execution of the YKMAKE, YKQUERY, or YKEWAIT command, or
the status does not change to DUPLEX, use the YKQRYDEV command (the Volume Query
Information (Cnt Ac-J Z) panel) to check the registration status (the EXCTG registration flag).

For details on the EXCTG registration flag, see the Volume Query Information (Cnt Ac-J Z)
panel in the HP XP P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software Reference Guide.

If active is displayed for the EXCTG registration flag, wait a while, because the status is
now in transition. If active is not displayed, make sure no error has occurred, by executing
the YKQUERY command, and then perform the following operations:

If the YKZ296E message is output, execute the YKMAKE SELECT(COND) command
again.

If a message other than YKZ296E is output, take action as recommended in the message.

If none of the above applies, inform the service representative of the contents of the EXCTG
registration information flag and request them to investigate the problem.
