Generating copy group definition files from the ISPF panel
Copy group definition files for PPRC copy pairs can be generated through operations in the ISPF
panel.
When the SCANPAIR command is entered from the Copy Pair Selection panel, the following items
are specified in the displayed Scan Copy Pair Inside Storage System panel. Specify a value and
press the Enter key to start the background job for scanning PPRC copy pair P-VOLs. This will
generate a copy group definition file for the PPRC copy pairs with the detected P-VOLs and their
corresponding S-VOLs.

The device address domain ID belonging to the P-VOLs of the scanned PPRC copy pairs
•
The device address domain ID belonging to the S-VOLs of the scanned PPRC Cnt Ac-S Z/TCA
copy pairs
•
The Non Gen'ed device address domain ID belonging to the S-VOLs of the scanned PPRC BC
Z copy pairs (when the S-VOLs of the PPRC BC Z copy pairs are Non Gen'ed volumes)
•
Copy group name for monitoring by Business Continuity Manager
•
Range of device numbers for scanned P-VOLs
•
Check whether HyperSwaps are enabled for PPRC copy pairs
NOTE:
•
This function also detects the copy pairs created by Business Continuity Manager. If Business
Continuity Manager and PPRC are used in the same environment, specify a different prefix
for Business Continuity Manager and PPRC so that the copy pairs operated in Business
Continuity Manager and PPRC will not be detected at the same time.

When NOCHECK is specified for HS in the Scan Copy Pair Inside Storage System panel, no
check will be performed to confirm whether HyperSwaps are enabled for the detected PPRC
copy pairs. To exclude PPRC Cnt Ac-S copy pairs for which HyperSwaps are enabled from
the copy group definition file, specify CHECK for HS.
Example of importing PPRC copy pairs
Following are three PPRC copy pair configurations to help explain how to generate copy group
definition files. Note that the following conditions are not indicated in the figures:

Range of device numbers for scanned P-VOLs: 7300 to 730F
•
Prefix of the configuration files: BCM.MIGRATE
•
For Cnt Ac-S copy pairs, a check to confirm whether HyperSwaps are enabled for PPRC copy
pairs
When monitoring PPRC Cnt Ac-S/TCA copy pairs
“Example configuration for a PPRC copy pair” (page 280) shows a configuration in which a PPRC
Cnt Ac-S copy pair and TCA copy pair are run together.
To monitor PPRC Cnt Ac-S/TCA copy pairs in the example configuration in Figure 6-1, specify the
following in the Scan Copy Pair Inside Storage System panel:
