TIP:

A volatile storage system failure is a condition in which storage system memory enters a

volatile state due to a failure. The copy pair information and the data are completely lost, so the
hardware information must be reconfigured.

This section provides maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for 3DC Cascade (Cnt Ac-J Z
x Cnt Ac-J Z) configurations.

The figures in the procedures in this section use the following legend.

The bullet lists under the figures in the procedures show the commands that must be executed.

Performing primary site storage system maintenance

The following are the procedures for primary site storage system maintenance.

Failover

1.

Stop operation at the primary site.

2.

From the intermediate site, execute the YKSUSPND REVERSE command for the Continuous
Access Journal Z copy pair between the primary site and the intermediate site.

YKQUERY

YKSUSPND REVERSE

YKEWAIT GOTO(SUSPEND)

3.

Start primary site storage system maintenance.

4.

Start operation at the intermediate site.

Operation in a 2DC configuration starts between the intermediate site and the remote site.

Failback

1.

Terminate primary site storage system maintenance.
