Volume capacity cannot be acquired for remote scans and NG scans. In addition, if the P-VOL is an XP1024/XP128
Disk Array, XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array, or XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array volume and the S-VOL is an XP P9500
Disk Array volume, the volume capacity cannot be acquired even if a Remote Scan is performed on the S-VOL.

The unit (the differential-data management unit) that manages the differential data of a P-VOL and
an S-VOL can be specified in DIF UNIT in the Copy Group Attributes panel (for Cnt Ac-S Z/TCA).
Thus, the units vary for each of the following storage systems that are used:

XP1024/XP128 disk array

XP12000/XP10000 disk array, XP24000/XP20000 disk array, or XP P9500 disk array

For details about DIF UNIT in the Copy Group Attributes panel (Cnt Ac-S Z/TCA), see the HP XP
P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software Reference Guide
. For details about the difference
management unit, see the HP XP P9000 Continuous Access Synchronous for Mainframe User
Guide

Storage system identification

Differences in storage system identification in Business Continuity Manager are described in the
following sections.

Identification on the XP1024/XP128 disk array and XP12000/XP10000 disk array

When the storage system is an XP1024/XP128 or XP12000/XP10000 disk array, Business
Continuity Manager considers the storage systems themselves to be storage systems and treats the
physical DKC serial numbers assigned to the individual storage systems as the storage systems
serial numbers.

Figure 8 (page 48)

shows the storage system serial numbers for XP1024/XP128 disk arrays or

XP12000/XP10000 disk arrays.
