After you have selected the desired field to change, the current selection will become highlighted. Press the
<Tab> key to scroll through available options.

The following options are available for each of the possible configurable options shown on figure 5-11:

Interface: select either "direct" or "modem"

Init Modem at Startup: select "yes" or "no"

Modem Init String: the default Init String is ats0=1 (Advanced users only)

Password enable: select "yes" or "no"

SLIP Password: select a password of up to 15 characters


SLIP IP Address: enter the IP address of the Serial Line Interface Port. The SLIP address and the in-
band address must have different network IDs and cannot reside on the same network.

SLIP Subnet Mask: enter the SLIP Subnet Mask

SLIP Port Setup: select number 8, <Enter> and a new menu will be displayed that details the
configuration of the SLIP Port. Enter the values shown in Figure 5-12.

5.2.1.4

Passwords

The 9135 Two-Port Switch and the 9140 Four-Port Switch has three levels of password protection:

Supervisor

highest level, can do anything

Manager

middle level, has some write access

User

mostly read-only access, can reset some counters


When entering a new password, you may select up to 18 characters. All letters, numbers and characters are
legal and your new password will be case sensitive. Reference Figure 5-13.
