Update the 9135 or 9140 Software Through TFTP
To verify the software revision currently stored on the device in the Flash EPROMS:
Step 1 The Software upgrade file must be downloaded via a TFTP client package, e.g. SNMP package, or
Weird Solutions TFTP Client 95. The TFTP server resides in the 9135 or 9140 itself. If you do
not have TFTP client software, the internet is a good source; point your web browser to: TFTP
Client Software, locate one. Download and install a TFTP client. Become familiar with invoking
a TFTP client session.
Step 2 Initiate the TFTP Client to begin the 9135 or 9140 upgrade. The remote host is your 9135 or 9140
IP address, remote file will be bsw_img, which is internal to the 9135 or 9140, and the local file is
bsw.img and the path is where the upgrade software resides. Enter this data once you have
initiated the TFTP Client. Via this TFTP transfer, the upgrade software will be sent directly to one
of the two flash EPROMS.
Step 3 The nomenclature you use may vary slightly depending on your TFTP software. However, the
important parameters should read:
•
Local: (location where upgrade software is stored)
•
Remote: (location in 9135 or 9140 upgrade is destined for)
•
The Host should be the IP address of your 9135 or 9140
•
If your TFTP client defaults to GET, change the operation mode to PUT
Step 4 Start the download operation. You are now sending the new revision to the 9135 or 9140. The
process should take less than one minute, and you should see some type of progress monitor.
Step 5 When your TFTP client indicates the transfer is complete, close the TFTP program.
Step 6 At this point, you have downloaded the newest revision of the 9135 or 9140 user interface
software to one of the two Flash EPROMs on the 9135 or 9140. However, this alternate Software
Revision flash may not be active. To make sure your new Software Revision is in place, select
"Reports" from the Main Menu screen and then select "Description." The active Software
Revision will be identified with "(active)." See Figure 5-36.
