Step 7 One Software Revision Flash is active while the other simply holds the other version until it is
invoked. This is evident because each Flash display refers to a different revision number. To
invoke the latest software revision, reset the unit after download is finished. Notice that the
recently downloaded Software Revision is stored in the "active" flash by default.
Step 8 When the unit has been restarted, the new software revision is invoked. To verify this, go back to
the Description page. The new Software Revision is identified as "(active)" and the old revision
remains in the alternate, inactive Flash location. Refer to Figure 5-36.

5.4 Update the 9135 or 9140 Software Through FTP
1. To verify the software revision currently stored in the Flash memory and used by the 9135 or 9140:
2. From the Main Menu, type "4" and press <Enter>; then from the Reports Menu, type "1" and press
<Enter>. The Description screen appears (Figure 34).
3. Record the numbers for Software Revision Flash1 and Flash2 for reference when you check the
Canoga Perkins Web site.
4. To check if a newer version of the software is available, log on to www.canoga.com. Click
Downloads, then scroll to the 9135 or 9140 file name. The last digits of the filename indicate the
version number; for example, 91350330.img indicates firmware version 3.30.
5. If the web site lists a newer version, download the upgrade file by an FTP client. The FTP server
resides in the 9135 or 9140.
Note: These are general steps for the FTP command in Windows. Refer to your FTP
documentation for specific information and details.
6. Connect to the 9135 or 9140 by Telnet and access the System screen and type "1" and press <Enter>.
At the IP Settings screen, select "5," Enable Download, then select either "FTP only" or "TFPT and
FTP."
