MAINTENANCE

Introduction

Hypertherm assumes that the service personnel performing the troubleshooting testing are high-level
electronic service technicians who have worked with high-voltage electro-mechanical systems
. Knowledge
of final isolation troubleshooting techniques is also assumed.

In addition to being technically qualified, maintenance personnel must perform all testing with safety in
mind. Refer to the

Safety section for operating precautions and warning formats.

If you need additional assistance or need to order parts, call our Customer Service or Technical Service
departments listed in the front of this manual.

Routine maintenance

For a complete list of routine maintenance recommendations, see the

Preventative Maintenance Schedule sheet

located at the end of this section. Contact the Technical Services department listed at the front of this manual with
any questions regarding the maintenance schedule or procedures.

WARNING

SHOCK HAZARD

Use extreme care when working near the chopper modules. The large blue capacitors store high
voltage. Even if the power is off, dangerous voltages exist at the capacitor terminals, on the chopper
and the heatsinks. Discharging any capacitor with a screwdriver or other implement may result in an
explosion, property damage or personal injury. Wait at least 5 minutes after turning the power supply
off before touching the chopper or the capacitors.
