3 Wear suitable clothing

Avoid wearing loose clothing that may get caught in the transmission members. In

particular, given the presence of batteries with acid, the following minimum personal

protective equipment must be used:

-

Rubber gloves resistant to sulphuric acid (PVC)

-

Protective goggles (mask or visor)

-

Acid-proof clothing

-

Rubber safety boots

-

Helmet

4 Exhaust gases are harmful

When working in an enclosed environment, make sure there is suitable ventilation. In

case of stationary sets installed in enclosed areas, (e.g. diesel pumps), refer to specialized

experienced personnel to make sure that there is adequate supply of fresh air.

5 Diesel oil, oil and antifreeze fluids are harmful

In case of contact, wash skin with soap and water, if ingested, consult a physician

immediately.

If necessary, store fuels outdoors in a location not accessible to untrained personnel.

6 Oil fumes are toxic

Do not tamper with the oil fumes recirculation devices; in case of high oil consumption,

refer to an authorized repair shop.

7 Watch out for hot surfaces

The muffler, manifold, base and heads of the diesel engine can cause burns. Do not

open the water radiator cap if the engine is still hot, there is risk of serious burns!

8 Wear earmuffs or earplugs to protect hearing

Whenever prolonged exposure to noise is expected.

9 Watch out for moving parts

Do not access any mechanical parts while the engine is running. Use protections for

pulleys, belts and transmission shafts; do not approach any moving parts while holding

cloths or wearing loose clothing, which may get caught in the transmission members

and cause serious personal injuries

10 Do not smoke and do not keep the engine running while refuelling

11 Maintenance

The operating and maintenance instructions describe the operations that can normally

be performed by moderately experienced personnel. In case of problems contact an

authorized workshop or your retailer.

Before proceeding with any operation make sure that:

-

the engine cannot be accidentally started ( disconnect the batteries)

-

all parts (mufflers, radiators, base, heads) have cooled down.

Warning! Opening the radiator cap while the engine is hot can cause serious

burns.

12 Protect your hands with gloves

Certain parts (sheet metal, levers, ..) have sharp edges that can cut you. Use suitable

tools and equipment.

13 Watch out for runaway speed

Runaway speed on a diesel engine is difficult to control by the operator. Under certain
