conditions it can cause personal injury or damage to property. To avoid runaway speed

conditions we recommend the following:

- do not exceed the MAX level on the engine oil dipstick

- do not exceed the MAX oil level in the air filter cup

- set the engine in the horizontal position

- do not modify the factory adjustments

- do not tamper with the injection system

14 Lifting the machine

Use the lifting lugs on the base; the eyebolts on the engine are sized for handling the

engine itself only, therefore they cannot be used to lift the complete machine. Use good

quality sturdy hooks and/or ropes to avoid causing personal injuries and/or damage to

property. The engine and/or machine must be securely harnessed so as to guarantee

proper weight balance during the lifting and handling operations.

15 Batteries

The starting batteries may generate harmful fumes; provide for suitable ventilation of the

environment, avoid any contact with the electrolyte fluid; contact of the electrolyte with

certain metal surfaces (e.g. aluminium) can generate toxic gases. The batteries contain

sulphuric acid (corrosive) and release an explosive gas, especially while recharging. It is

therefore indispensable to ventilate the room and not smoke or use naked flames near

the batteries. Keep the batteries out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

Observe the provisions of law governing safety in the workplace; in particular, use rubber

gloves that are resistant to sulphuric acid (PVC), protective goggles (mask or visor), acid-

proof clothing, rubber safety boots, avoid generating any sparks, do not bend over the

batteries.

To disconnect the battery start from the negative ground terminal.

16 Protect the environment

Do not burn mineral oils or fuels; these materials, together with filters, gaskets and

batteries must be delivered to the appropriate waste collection centers.
