Section 8. ADVantage 6600 Software – Post-

Processing of Data

8-1. Opening a Saved File

After a file has been uploaded from the ADV6600 to a computer, it may be opened for viewing and
post processing. In the ADVantage 6600 software, there are several ways a file may be opened.

• When ADVantage 6600 is first launched, choose Open an Existing Data File from

the opening set of screen options.

• Click on the Open File icon from the tool bar.

• Choose File>Open File from the menu at the top of the screen.

No matter which method you choose to
open a new file, the Open File window
shown at the right will appear. Select
the file you wish to open and designate
with a checkmark if you want to Use
Workspaces
. Then click Open File.

without using workspaces, a Data File
window will appear. This window
provides information about what is
contained in the file and allows you
select either all samples or a limited

data file is opened. This feature is useful if you have a very large file. For example, your file may

a file before, you may have changed the way in which the data appeared. For example, if you had
500 samples, you may have zoomed in to display only samples numbered 200 to 300 on the graph.
Or, you may have chose to display only two graphs rather than four. When you close the data file at
the end of your work, ADVantage 6600 saves the post processing work you have completed in what
is called Workspaces.

When you open a file, if you choose to Use Workspaces, the data is reopened to appear exactly as it
did the last time you modified and closed your Workspace (note that the data file is NOT altered in
any way from its original state). If you do not select to use workspaces, the data is opened using the
