5-1.2. Deploying in a PVC Pipe
A piece of commonly available 6 inch PVC pipe can also be used to deploy the sonde, again with a
small amount of user engineering required. In this case, the engineering requires the mounting of a
“bottom stop” at the end of the pipe on which the probe guard of the sonde will rest and allow the
ADV sensor to extend beneath the deployment system as shown in the picture below. Note that the
pipe also has to be perforated by the user to allow water to circulate to the water quality sensors.
Once modified, the PVC pipe can either be mounted to a post which has been driven into the bottom
of the water body or suspended on a rope or chain as shown in the pictures below.
