8. Now cock the sonde at an angle of about 30 degrees toward your body as shown in the

picture above center. Again rotate the instrument slowly through at least two complete
(and opposite) turns around its longitudinal axis

9. Now cock the sonde at an angle of about 30 degrees to the left (above right) and repeat the

rotation of the sonde around its longitudinal axis. Finally, repeat the step with the sonde
cocked at an angle of about 30 degrees to the right.

10. When you are finished, click on Stop. The calibration process will report a calibration

score

11. Calibration scores will be calculated and displayed as shown in the dialog box below.

These are an indication of the quality of calibration. Horizontal and Vertical numbers
should be high (scale of 0 to 9). The Magnetic Field Strength number should be low (scale
of 0 to 100). Repeat the calibration if Horizontal or Vertical is below 6, or if Magnetic
Field Strength is greater than 30. If results do not improve, change the location of the
sonde or modify the mounting structure.

Remember that it is important to calibrate also calibrate your compass at the deployment site and in
the mounting apparatus if at all possible.

4-4. Changing the Pressure Sensor Offset

The ADV6600 can be equipped with an optional pressure sensor which can be used to calculate the
depth (level) of the water over the bottom of the ADV6600 bulkhead. The sensor is available in
three configurations to provide maximum accuracy for shallow (10 m), medium (30 m), and deep
(50 m) applications.
