A Microsoft Windows operating system is required, and it must be Window 98 or later. As such,
Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP are all compatible with ADVantage 6600. Windows
2000 and XP are not required, but are the recommended choice of operating system.
What are the minimum requirements for me to run the ADVantage 6600 software on my
computer?
The minimum requirements to run the ADVantage 6600 software are:
• Microsoft Windows 98/2000/NT/ME/XP
• 100-MHz Pentium processor (200-MHz or better recommended)
• 32 MB available memory (64 MB or better recommended)
• 50 MB available disk space (100 MB or better recommended)
• Monitor capable of 800 x 600 resolution, 16-bit color (1024 x 768 recommended)
Can I use the terminal mode of EcoWatch for Windows to interface with the ADV6600?
No. Only ADVantage 6600 will provide a fully functional interface to the ADV6600.
Can I use EcoWatch for Windows or any of the SonTek programs to analyze the data from
the ADV6600?
No. Because of the hybrid nature of the ADV6600, its data format is different from that for YSI 6-
series sondes (ADV6600 files are designated with an .A66 extension). As such, the data format is
not directly compatible with EcoWatch for Windows. Note, however, that (a) ADVantage 6600 has
a user-friendly data analysis capability that is easy to learn, and (b) it is easy to export data to a form
that is compatible with spreadsheets for users who prefer to perform data analysis using a program
such as Microsoft Excel. It is possible to open some spreadsheet-compatible files with EcoWatch for
Windows, but some of the flexibility and power of the EcoWatch program is lost using this method.
Since I may have multiple files from the same site if I perform periodic field uploads of data,
can I use ADVantage 6600 software to later merge these files into a single file for analysis?
