VME Configuration Parameters

C.1

Introduction

This appendix describes how to manage VME configuration parameters for VME-based
products. A few VME configuration parameters are controlled by hardware jumpers while the
majority of the parameters are managed by the firmware command utility vmeCfg. This
command utility provides various options to display, edit, delete, and restore VME
configuration parameters.

Note:

Register locations of VME configuration parameters may differ between PCI-to-VMEbus
bridge devices. Refer to the corresponding PCI-to-VMEbus bridge User’s Manual for
specific details.

The default VME settings may differ between VME-based products. Refer to the board’s
Installation and Use manual for the default VME settings.

C.2

CR/CSR Settings

The CR/CSR base address is initialized to the appropriate setting based on the Geographical
address; that is, the VME slot number. See the VME64 Specification and the VME64 Extensions
for details. As a result, a 512 KB CR/CSR area can be accessed from the VMEbus using the
CR/CSR AM code.

C.3

Displaying VME Settings

vmeCfg –s –i(0 - 7)
