RAID Status
1. Format: Formatting all the disks, all the data will be erased. Recording is stopped.
2. Active: The RAID system is recording normally.
3. Inactive: The RAID system is not working. Recording is stopped.
4. Downgrade: The RAID system is recording normally with certain one disk failed.
5. Recovery: The RAID system is recovering its data with enough disks. Recording may
proceed.
6. ReSync: All the disks have been formatted, now performing ReSync to re-build the
RAID system. Recording may proceed.
How to Manage Disk Error (Changing Disks)
Whenever any of the disks goes into abnormal (e.g. disconnected from the HDD tray) or error
status, you can observe it from (1) Event List on Live view (2) RAID setting page.
The failure of disks might or might not result in recording disruption because different RAID
type has different tolerance level toward disk failures. In XNR-4200 RAID system tolerates no
disk failure in RAID 0; one disk failure in RAID 1, 5 and 10.
Please do the following when the any of the disks appears error:
1. Shut down the device, remove and insert the error disk(s) again, then start the device,
and go to RAID settings page to check the disk and RAID status.
2. If the disk remains
“Error” status, please do the following according to RAID status:
Note1: When doing the replacing of disks, please make sure the device has been shut down.
Note2: Please use a new disk with at least the same capacity of other drives.
Active
Downgrade
Inactive
Replace the error disk with a
new one.
Backup
In Playback, export the
important video to CD/DVD
ROMs or PC.
System is normal.
(No data loss)
Replace the error disk with a new
one.
System will be back to “Active “after
Recovery.”
(No data loss)
System will format all the disks
and perform “ReSync” before it
can start recording.
(All data will
be erased)
