27. Install the wire rope retainer block to the end of the
telescope cylinder.
28. Install the outer mid extend block and guides to the
button end of the extend wire ropes.
29. Insert the telescope cylinder into the boom assem-
bly. Allow the cylinder assembly to remain partially
extended from the boom assembly for the following
steps.
NOTE: The telescope cylinder rod is to be extended about
three feet (1 m) for the following steps. Also, care
must be taken to ensure that the telescope cylinder
and its subassemblies avoid forcible impact with
other boom assemblies.
30. Install the outer mid extend block to the end of the
outer mid boom; connecting the button ends of the
outer mid extend wire ropes to the outer mid boom.
Torque bolts to 165 ft.lbs. (231 Nm).
31. Install the wire rope guide sheaves and assemble
components to the bottom of the telescope cylinder
while routing the extend wire ropes through the
guide sheaves.
32. Install the extend wire rope anchor weldment onto
the extend wire rope threaded fittings while ensuring
that the threaded fitting pins are engaged into the
anchor weldment tube slots.
33. Install the compression spring, proximity sensor
mounting block and the adjuster nut to the 1-12UNF
threaded fitting. The nut is to be installed loosely at
this time. Do not install the proximity sensor at this
time. This portion of the assembly is to be located
on the side opposing the boom powertrack.
34. Loosely install the 1 3/8-6UNC adjuster nut to the
other threaded fitting. This portion of the assembly is
to be located on the power track side of the boom
assembly.
35. Continue to insert the telescope cylinder into the
boom assembly until the cylinder barrel trunnion
ears seat into their respective pockets in the inner
mid boom.
CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THE CYLINDER AND
SUBASSEMBLIES AVOID FORCIBLE IMPACT WITH OTHER INTER-
NAL BOOM ASSEMBLIES.
36. Use shims as required, install the telescope cylinder
barrel trunnion keeper blocks and bolts.
37. Locate the extend wire rope anchor weldment and
install the mounting bolts.
38. Retract the telescope cylinder rod and position the
trunnion ears into their respective pockets in the
base boom.
39. Using shims as required, install the telescope cylin-
der rod trunnion keeper blocks and bolts.
