The following sections describe how to operate your scanner system
hardware.
Operating the Reader
The reader turns on as soon as power is applied to it. The reader
reads bar codes after the settings are configured through the menu
commands or through the serial commands. At the Main menu,
press
[Esc] . This will give you a blank screen. When a bar code is
read by the reader, the data will be visible on the terminal screen.
To make changes to the reader’s parameters while the reader is
reading bar codes, type the appropriate operational command. You
do not need to access the Main menu or access the serial commands
to make changes.
Daisy-Chain Operation
The daisy-chain configuration option allows you to read different bar
codes on different sides of the same package. The various readers
act as a single device, as far as the host device is concerned, and can
be connected to a single serial port. You can only use Series B or
higher of the reader when using the daisy-chain configuration except
for the last reader used in the chain. Refer to the drawing below for
daisy-chain connections.
