Internal SCSI Tape Backup Unit

Removing an Internal SCSI Tape Backup Unit

CAUTION:

Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You

should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your
product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.

1 Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect

the system from the electrical outlet.

2 Remove the front bezel, if attached. See "Removing the Bezel" on

page 64.

3 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 67.
4 Push the spring-loaded release latch on top of the peripheral bay to the left

and eject the tape backup unit partially out of the bay. See Figure 3-16.

5 Disconnect the ribbon and power cables on the back of the unit.
6 Remove the tape backup unit from the system.
7 If you are not replacing the unit, insert the filler plate(s) in the peripheral

bay.
