6 – Overview of operation modes

This unit has the following three operation modes.

o

Timeline mode

This mode provides a timeline-based working environment

similar to using a tape recorder. In timeline mode, two tracks

can be recorded and played back. Marks can also be edited.

o

Take mode

This mode uses takes (files) as recording and playback units.
Two tracks can be recorded and one or two tracks can

played back. Marks can also be edited.

o

Playlist Mode

This mode provides a playlist playback function.
One or two tracks can be played using playlist playback.

Timeline mode functions

The following functions can be used in timeline mode.

o

Simultaneous recording and playback of up to two

channels is possible at all compatible sampling

frequencies.

o

Mirror recording function utilizing dual slots.

o

Recording and playback with timecode synchronization is

possible. (The optional SY-2 board is required.)

o

A single file can be created from a designated time

interval in a timeline using the bounce function.

o

Marks can be set, managed, edited and used for playback.

o

Compatibility with the AES31 file standard allows import

and exchange of data with other devices.

NOTE

Since the AES31 file standard does not support sampling

frequencies of 176.4kHz and 192kHz, editing information

for those settings is created and saved in an original format

based on AES31.

In timeline mode, playback units are called “regions,” and their

extent is shown in the track area of the Home Screen.

Take mode functions

The following functions can be used in take mode.

o

Simultaneous recording and playback of up to two

channels is possible at all compatible sampling

frequencies.

o

Auto cue, auto ready and incremental play functions are

available.

o

Using a TASCAM RC-HS20PD or other remote controller,

flash start playback is possible (five pages of 20 keys each).

o

Marks can be set, managed, edited and used for playback.

o

Automatic playback, recording and file transfer are possible

using the timer event list.

Playlist mode functions

The following functions can be used in playlist mode.

o

Playlists can be edited and managed.

o

Auto cue, auto ready and incremental play functions are

available.

o

Compatibility with JPPA flash start standards enable the

exchange of playlists with other devices.

o

Playback of up to two channels is possible for all

compatible sampling frequencies.

o

Using a TASCAM RC-HS20PD or other remote controller,

flash start playback is possible (five pages of 20 keys each).

Selecting the operation mode

1. Press the MENU key on the front panel to open the MENU

screen.

2. Touch the OPERATION MODE button to open the

OPERATION MODE screen.

3. Touch the button for the mode that you want to use to

select it.
The button for the selected mode appears yellow.

4. Touch the SET button to enable the selected mode and

return to the Home Screen.
