Figure 8.7 – LED States during Polling

After all the devices are queried, the results are used to drive contact closure outputs. The

assertion level of these digital outputs depends on whether the server is in alarm or relay

operation. To setup the output type, use the main menu task called Set Up Server Output.

This task is detailed in the next section.

If a base station server is in alarm output operation, the contact closure outputs will be ac-

tive when the associated digital input is OFF. This alerts users when the system output they

are monitoring is OFF. The contact closure outputs will be inactive when the digital input

is ON.

If the base station server is in relay output operation, the contact closure outputs will be

active when the associated digital input is ON. The contact closure outputs will be inactive

when the associated digital input is OFF.

The base station server has a method of fail-safe reporting. If an input state is persistently

undiscoverable (or has never been discovered) then the output related to this input will en-

ter the fail-safe state. In alarm operation, the associated output will be ON in fail-safe mode.

In relay operation, the associated output will be OFF in the fail-safe state. However, if the

input state has been recently acquired by a previous query, then this state will be reported

until 10 consecutive timeouts.

The first two contact closure outputs will be signaled via the digital outputs of the Click 511

and the first two contact closure outputs of the Click 100. The remaining six outputs will

be signaled only on the Click 100. You can wire a Click 120 electrical relay to any of these

outputs.

Figure 8.8 shows a demo kit with Click 511 field (client) and base (server) stations. In a real

application, the devices would be in different cabinets. This figure shows a Click 100 con-

nected to the server, as well as an electrical relay wired to one of the outputs.
