General Troubleshooting
General Troubleshooting
Because of the specialized PALS, surface-mount parts, and multipurpose
parts in the Model 1200, circuit-level troubleshooting and repair of printed
circuit modules in the field is not practical. This section is designed to help
you isolate a problem to a particular circuit module. You should then
contact your equipment supplier or Grass Valley Products Customer
Support to have the module replaced or repaired.
The following troubleshooting steps are presented in the order in which
you should do them, beginning with general steps and proceeding to more
specific checks and tests.
Check Control Panel Settings
If a particular operation or function does not work, verify that all the
settings on the control panel are correct. See the Operation manual for
complete operation instructions.
Check Setup
Use the Configuration menus to check the setup of the Model 1200. If you
want to reset the system to factory default setup, use the
[FACTORY RESET]
soft button in the System Parameters menu. If there is a problem with
communications, check the jumpers on the Control Processor Module (see
Section 2).
Reset Microprocessor
If the system appears to be ÒfrozenÓ or operating strangely, press the
RESET button on the front of the frame Control Processor Module.
To reset the RAM on the Control Panel, press the [Misc] button on the Main
Menu Subpanel.
The [FACTORY RESET] , [CLEAR DP RAM] , and [CLEAR WORKING BUFFER] soft
buttons are used to clear the RAM.
Factory Reset ÑClears Engineering settings, Configuration, Input
Mapping, all E-MEMs, the Current Working Buffer, and returns the
RAM to the settings as they were when shipped from the factory.
Clear DP RAM ÑClears the current working buffer and any E-MEMs.
Clear Working Buffer ÑClears all buttons and knobs on the Control
Panel and returns them to their default settings.
