was backed up to tape.

The SQL Server instance (

Temporary directory for Extended Commands and the VDI metafile storage directory are created
by the database server and backup server.

only while it is operating.

The primary volume configured as a pair with the secondary volume to be backed up will not be
backed up until the secondary volume is backed up onto tape.

The

Processing flow

The figure below shows the flow of processing during backup of an SQL Server database to tape and
restoration of the backed-up SQL Server database to the primary volume in a multiple server
configuration system.

When usual operation is in the split state, the copy group is first resynchronized, after which the
data is backed up.

When usual operation is in the pair status, it is unnecessary to resynchronize the copy group before
backing up the data. After the data is backed up to tape, resynchronize the copy group to restore
data to the initial state.
